Boone NC Art & Entertainment (Festivals and More!)
There
is an unusually cultural diversity within the High Country.
Appalachian State University's Appalachian Summer Program has
brought a wide variety of artists and artisans to the area, and of
course the mountains have always provided a huge pool of home grown
talent.
From
banjos to violins, from square dancing and clogging to ballet, local storytellers to
Blowing Rock Stage Company plays...you can find it all within the
Boone, Blowing Rock, Valle Crucis and Banner Elk area.
There are many talented arts and crafters as well...and an equal
number of shows and festivals to showcase them! From the
Blowing Rock Arts Shows to Valle Fair and the Woolly Worm Festival
and more...they all provide a venue to show off some of the most
creative and talented artists anywhere.
From hand-thrown pottery to towering steel
sculpture, the High Country offers a unique blend of traditional and
modern culture.
The High Country offers performances
from celtic to bluegrass to traditional Americana music.
If you are more "into" the performing arts, you'll not be lacking
there either! ASU’s Performing Arts Series as well as Lees-McRae
College’s Performing Arts and Summer Theatre all feature
diverse concerts, dance and theatrical performances throughout the
year. Not to mention the outdoor theatrical drama performed by Horn
in the West that portrays the role of Daniel Boone in the
Revolutionary War and the settlement of the area.
