Boone, North Carolina is unusual because it is one of the few destinations in America that is actually a town hub that is located within 20 minutes or so from FOUR different snow ski resorts!

There are four ski mountains in the area. Sugar Mountain and Beech Mountain are in Banner Elk, just a short drive from Boone NC. These mountains are well maintained and easily accessible. A few miles up the road from Boone NC is Hawksnest. This mountain is always well groomed and has gorgeous views from the lifts. Hawksnest features late night skiing on the weekends and also offers tubing for the ones who like things a little slower paced. Appalachian Ski Mountain, located in Boone NC, is known for their terrain park that allows the more experienced to take skiing and snowboarding to the next level.
