The Celtic Unicorn at Yonahlossee Saddle Club, home of the ASU
Equestrian Team, featuring Celtic trail rides, horseback riding
lessons, and birthday party pony rides for youngsters if scheduled
in advance. The indoor horseback riding ring allows for riding in
most weather conditions.
The New River Ranch and Stables also accommodates horseback riding
in sundry weather conditions with their indoor and outdoor training
facilities. Lessons are a priority at this ranch.
River Run Stables is an upscale horseback riding facility for
serious equestrians looking for a place to be pampered. With
completely flat pasture that has been cross-fenced for optimization
of pasture land, horses are turned out in pairs at most. Barn
amenities include a manicured farm site with automated fly-spray
system, full-service board, and training options. A half-length
track makes this an excellent horseback riding location for
thoroughbreds off the track who still feel the urge to run. This
particular stable is focused mainly around providing boarders with
the top care in the Boone, NC area.
Probably most famous of all the horseback riding in the High Country
is the Blowing Rock Equestrian Preserve (formerly Blowing Rock
Stables), home of the Annual Blowing Rock Horse Show. With its
location conveniently adjacent to the Moses Cone manor, 25 miles of
carriage trails, and over 3,600 acres of preserved land, horseback
riding cannot get any finer than this. Borders are welcomed at
Blowing Rock Equestrian Preserve, and since they no longer offer
guided trail rides, horses in training and participants in the horse
show are the main clientele here.
